School Values

‘Developing a love for learning to fulfil our potential and be our best’

At Kelbrook Primary School we celebrate individuality to help all our pupils fulfil their potential and achieve their best. Every child has limitless potential; we work in partnership with all stakeholders in our school community, to unlock our pupils’ individual talents. At Kelbrook, we want our children to develop a love for learning in a nurturing, family orientated environment, providing them with the skills and attributes to flourish as they progress on their educational journey. Kelbrook is a happy school in the heart of our village; with the strength of community and family at its core.

For our children to fulfil their potential and be their best, at Kelbrook Primary School we have six core values:

Kindness

Kindness makes us feel good about ourselves and reinforces our self-worth and importance. It fosters a sense of belonging and purpose, boosting satisfaction, happiness, and physical and mental well-being. It has a ripple effect and is contagious.

 Confidence

Having confidence helps us feel ready for life’s experiences. It makes an individual believe that they have something to offer. It takes people out of their comfort zone by challenging them to take risks, explore new opportunities, reach for more from life, conquer challenges and embrace failure on the path to success. It gives individuals the skills and coping methods to handle setbacks and failure. Confidence helps our pupils maintain a positive mindset no matter the circumstance.

 Honesty

Honesty is a fundamental value that plays a crucial role in fostering trust, respect, and integrity in our relationships with others and with ourselves. It is considered one of the most important values in life because it allows us to live with peace of mind and joy in our hearts. Being honest can lead to happier, healthier, and more confident living, as it creates a foundation for clear communication and mutual understanding. It reduces stress and anxiety, increases confidence and self-esteem, leads to more effective problem solving, and begets success in life and career.

 Responsibility

One of the most important benefits of responsibility is that it teaches valuable life lessons. Responsibility helps you learn how to handle tricky situations, make good decisions, and set goals, and achieve them. Life lessons are often taught through taking responsibility for your actions, mistakes, and the events that occur in life. It teaches you how to be considerate of other people’s safety, property, feelings, and emotions. These skills are essential for success in any area of life, and responsibility also requires that you act towards your goals rather than just dreaming about them.

 Independence

Being independent boosts your self-confidence and self-esteem. It allows you to be capable of caring for yourself and others. It helps to accommodate innovation through independent thought. Independence prepares for future progress and self-sufficiency. Independence is what differentiates us from each other; it allows us to experience our lives on our terms. This is why we rely on our pride as individuals, and why we have a sense of passion when it comes to defending our individuality.

 Respect

Respect is important because it helps us to feel safe and to express ourselves. It is essential in making everyone feel valued and important, regardless of their background, beliefs, or abilities. Respect means that you accept somebody for who they are, even if they are different or you do not agree with them. It shows that you value someone as a person and not just because of what they can do for you. Respect is a feeling of deep admiration for someone, or something, elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.
